IEBC chair, Wafula Chebukati announces 29th August as the new election date for pending elections. Mombasa and Kakamega are yet to conduct gubernatorial and some MCA election.
Their elections were postponed following unintentional mix in printing of ballot papers. Today, IEBC met with various people including the candidates in the two regions.
There had been several discussions regarding the postponing of these elections. The election was expected to happen on 23 August 2022. However, following continuing security concerns in the respective areas, the elections needed to be postponed.
Hassan Omar says that he is happy for the postponing because it was only extended with one week. He adds that he understand the conditions for dates extension.
The new elections will also call for school closure in the affected regions. This will be a double trouble for the school parents in the regions. Parents feels the pain when the schools close for such events considering that they still pay the allocated school fees.
